Wallpaper Plus v1.0 Copyright 1994 Desert Frog Software Thank you for trying Wallpaper Plus v1.0! Wallpaper Plus contains not only fractal wallpaper patterns but also animated wallpaper! Instead of a static pattern on your desktop, you can have one of our unique animated scenes! The unregistered version of this package provides 2 fractal wallpapers and 3 animated wallpaper scenes; K, Rectangles and Star Drive. Wallpaper Animator is a shareware package. If you decide to continue using any of this wallpaper after a reasonable evaluation period, you must register. When you register we will send you a new disk with 2 more fractal wallpapers and 6 new animated wallpapers. The new fractal wallpapers are 256 color ones but they will also work just fine if you run Windows in 16 colors. PLEASE REGISTER! The directions below will help you use your new wallpaper quickly and easily. Installing Wallpaper Plus v1.0 It's easy to install Wallpaper Plus. All you need to do is run the Setup program (from within Windows, of course). To run the Setup program: 1. Choose the File menu option on the Program Manager menu bar. 2. Click on the Run menu option to display the Run dialog box. 3. Type A:SETUP if you have the distribution disk in the A: drive, or B:SETUP if the disk is in the B: drive. 4. Press the Enter key to install your new wallpaper. Making the Wallpaper Animator Run Every Time You Start Windows Use the Wallpaper Animator when you want to see some action on your desktop. The program is designed to work with your other applications, using otherwise idle time to do its work. This means there is no reason not to add it to your Startup Program Group right now! Adding the Wallpaper Animator to the Startup Group: 1. Choose the Startup program group in the Program Manager. Position the group window so that you can still see the Wallpaper Animator icon in the Wallpaper Plus program group. 2. Point to the Wallpaper Animator icon in the Wallpaper Plus program group and press and hold down both the Ctrl (control) key and the left mouse button. 3. Drag the icon into the Startup program group then release the mouse button. From now on, the Wallpaper Animator will run automatically every time you start Windows. 4. Double-click the Wallpaper Animator icon in the Startup group to activate the Wallpaper Animator immediately. Note: Once the Wallpaper Animator is activated, it changes the desktop color to black, but does not remove any conventional wallpaper you might have selected. I recommend that you deselect any wallpaper you might be using when you run the Wallpaper Animator. Wallpaper Animator Controls You can use the Configuration menu to control which of the animated wallpapers will be displayed. The program chooses randomly between the ones you have selected. To select animations: 1. Click on the Wallpaper Animator icon to display the System menu. 2. Click on the Configure menu option to display the Configuration dialog box. The dialog contains a set of check boxes, one for each possible animation. 3. Click in the check boxes to enable/disable the different animations. 4. Click on the OK button when you are satisfied with your selections. You can use the Configuration menu to control the speed of the animated wallpapers. Reducing the speed leaves more time for your other Windows applications, and allows those of you with top-of-the-line Pentium systems to slow the action down to a reasonable speed. To control the animation speed: 1. Click on the Wallpaper Animator icon to display the System menu. 2. Click on the Configure menu option to display the Configuration dialog box. The dialog contains an Animation Speed scroll bar. 3. Adjust the Animation Speed control bar to vary the speed of the scenes. Moving the scroll box to the left reduces the speed of all the animations, while moving it to the right increases the speed. 4. Click on the OK button when you are satisfied. You can use the Restart menu option in the System menu to randomly select a new animated wallpaper to view. To restart the animations: 1. Click on the Wallpaper Animator icon to display the System menu. 2. Click on the Restart menu option. The program will randomly choose an animation to display (it might choose the same one you are currently viewing). Using the Fractal Wallpapers The fractal wallpapers can be used just like any other Windows wallpaper. They are named FRACTAL1.BMP and FRACTAL2.BMP, and appear in the Wallpaper list in the Desktop dialog box like any of your other wallpaper. Consult the Desktop chapter of your Windows manual if you don't know how to use normal Windows wallpaper. Note: I suggest that you DO NOT use both the Wallpaper Animator and regular Windows wallpaper together (that includes the fractal wallpaper that came with this disk).
